Track and Field

Track and Field is a collective term for a sport that includes a variety of athletic contests based on the skills of running, jumping, and throwing. The “track” refers to the running events, which typically take place on an oval-shaped course, while the “field” encompasses events that are contested on a grass or dirt area, such as long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, discus, and javelin. Track and Field competitions are usually held in a stadium and can range from short sprints to long-distance races. It is a versatile and inclusive sport that features individual and team events, and it is often a key component of school athletics programs and international competitions, including the Olympics.
