Football

Football is a team sport that involves two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, who compete to score goals by propelling a ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using their feet. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with goals at each end. The primary objective is to score more goals than the opponent within a specified time frame, usually consisting of two halves of 45 minutes each, with a halftime break.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is widely recognized for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skillful ball handling. It is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and is notable for its popularity around the world, making it one of the most watched and followed sports globally.

In some regions, especially in the United States and Canada, the term “football” refers specifically to American football or Canadian football, which are different sports with distinct rules and gameplay. However, in most of the world, “football” is synonymous with what is known as “soccer” in North America.
