Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game unfolds on a diamond-shaped field with four bases arranged in a square, including a pitcher’s mound at the center. One team, playing in the field, aims to prevent the opposing team (the batting team) from scoring runs by getting batters out through various means, such as catching batted balls in the air, throwing the ball to a base before the batter arrives, or striking them out while pitching.

The objective for the batting team is to hit the ball, typically thrown by a pitcher, and run around the bases to score runs by reaching home plate after touching each base in sequence. The game is divided into innings, with each team having a chance to bat and field in each inning. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Baseball is known for its distinct terminology, rules, and a culture that includes statistics, traditions, and a significant following in various countries, particularly in the United States, where it is often referred to as “America’s pastime.”
